Attribution methodology
How country attribution works.
Model Gauntlet attributes a model to a country through its organization. Each organization carries reviewed headquarters country codes in the organization registry, and a model inherits the country codes of the organization that published it. Organizations based in more than one country are counted under each of their codes. This is organizational attribution. It is not a claim about where a model was trained or where its compute ran.
- Country codes are the reviewed headquarters codes recorded for each organization in the organization registry.
- A model inherits the country codes of the organization that published it.
- An organization headquartered in more than one country is counted under each of its codes.
- This is organizational attribution. It is not a claim about training location or compute location.

Country attribution questions
How does Model Gauntlet attribute a model to a country?

Which country leads the LMArena category boards?
United States organizations rank highest, led by Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.6 Thinking on the document arena board, current through July 20, 2026, per LMArena.
Why do some countries not have their own page?
A country gets a standalone page only with a sourced organization-country relationship, 2 qualifying organizations or 3 distinct models on the current boards, and at least 2 observation dates. Countries below that threshold stay in the table without a detail link rather than shipping a thin page.
