Trends · metric histories

How the numbers behind the AI race change over time.

Each trend tracks one measured variable across time, kept in its own evidence lane. Families go live one at a time as their sources pass review. This hub stays out of search until at least three families are live.

Latest verified change

Alphabet moved company-wide capital expenditure to $91.4B for fiscal 2025 from $52.5B in fiscal 2024, a $38.9B increase, per its SEC 10-K filing. Company-wide public-parent capex is not AI-only spending.

  • Capability over timePlanned

Benchmark histories by model and version.

Holds until at least 3 models share a comparable benchmark across at least 2 dates.

  • PricingPlanned

Dated input and output token prices and price moves.

Holds until effective dates, units, tiers, and at least 2 observations exist for 3 models.

  • Speed and contextPlanned

Context-window growth, with speed kept separate.

Context ships when source-safe; speed holds until a licensed normalized source exists.

  • ArchitecturePlanned

Parameters, dense and MoE mix, modality, and adoption.

Holds until at least 5 source-complete models allow a meaningful comparison.

  • Training scalePlanned

Training compute, hardware, and dataset scale where reported.

Holds until comparable units and explicit missingness are encoded.
